Space Marine

Looks like it has promise. Relic has done really good things with the franchise so far. So far, I am not seeing actual gameplay videos, just cut scenes, unless I am missing something. Release date is 9/4. I was thinking about renting it first, but the online activation code only comes with a new purchase. So, I may pre-order it.

I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Hmm, looks a bit like Gears of War in the way it is played.

Looks like a linear storyline, yes?

The storyline does look that way, but I think the real point is multiplayer.

Gotcha; I've never played Warhammer so was curious. Unfortunately multi-player shooters have never really appealed to me for whatever season (probably in large part because I suck at them and don't find getting pwned by 13 year olds very motivating, hah) so I'll probably pass on this one. The gameplay clip did look pretty good, though - if it was an open world single player campaign I'd be all over it.

It is at least worth renting. I played the demo and have to say that there is something very satisfying about hacking up an ork with a chainsword.

How much does it play like GOW? You mentioned the similarity earlier and it stuck out to me, too, watching the video. GOW2 bored me so much I think I only put a couple of hours into it before burying it on the shelf.

I am definitely going to want to pick up a shooter to help tide me over to Borderlands 2, though, so maybe you're right and this is worth a try. I haven't noticed anything else in that category on the horizon for the 360 that really piques my interest.

Try the demo. It doesn't use a cover system like GoW though.

Finally had a chance to pop in the demo this morning and I think it's probably a pass for me. Maybe my attention span is getting shorter as I get older but I only made it through two transitions before getting bored and turning on the tv instead (of course there was football on which helped sway things, haha). I did like the feel of the gameplay, though; if it had either an open world or some rpg elements I think it would hold my interest.

Should be waiting for me at home tonight. I ended up buying it since it was only $23 though Gamefly. I'll report back after I have some time in.

Used to be back in middle school. I do like the lore though. The game is fun, it's pretty challenging. You gain health by executing enemies, which sometimes you can die in the process if surrounded.

Good deal.

I wanted to know if you had an idea of what being a Space Marine should feel like.

I almost picked it up when I couldn't find Skyrim at Best Buy, but the small size of single player makes it seem better as a rental. I'm not much of an online multiplayer kind of guy.

Edit: nor a 3rd person/1st person shooter type... but, I want to be a Space Marine!
