Awesome! All the functionality of a PC with all the beauty and grace of Chris Farley on a coke binge.
|
Being in debt and celebrating a lower deficit is like being on a diet and celebrating the fact you gained two pounds this week instead of five.

Haha. I was actually thinking that it looked like it followed the aesthetic guidelines of the Star Wars' Galactic Empire. It would look right at home on the bridge of a Star Destroyer, or perhaps tucked away in Darth Vader's meditation sphere. "Evil Empire," indeed.

Did you know that the CEO of Sony is actually a British man and that he introduced American ways of doing business?
At least, it looks like something totally different.

I think what's hard for companies like Sony to grasp, is that you have to design something like the iMac from the outside in, which is extremely tough.

Is that an LCD or super slim CRT? If it's a CRT it's not an awful design, if it's an LCD the designer should be beaten with that thing...

That looks like a piece of lab equipment. Or maybe an all-in one for a video store. Doesn't it look like that gap should house a bar code scanner, or microscope, or mini X-ray machine or something?

Thx, MaxPower2k3
Ok, so this is pitched as an entertainment / media PC, running Windows XP Media Center Edition.
Yeah, fugly, but ah well.
NOT a competitor to an iMac.

Glad that blacksmithing is making a comeback. And the sheetmetal work on the screen is fantabulous.

It looks like someone "frankensteined" an old Gateway all-in-one. And not well, either. Sewing machine? Lab equipment? Rejected Star Trek prop? Take your pick.
Today, the Euro is about $1.19+ (if I read the table right). Which means that whichever one of the above labels you choose, you should add "bloody expensive" to it. For ~$1785 it had better be my GOOD friend, give me really winning lottery numbers and truly convince everyone to do my bidding. That's one expensive piece of modern art there!

Yes, but doesn't that website say 1,500 pounds? That makes about US$ 2,600.

I configured a fully-loaded iMac and it came to only $2,423. Plus it doesn't look like a stapler with a TV on top.

You aree forgetting the sales tax in the UK. Without the sales tax the Sony would only be $2,212 and therefore cheaper than the iMac. Or the other way around: I fully configured an iMac in the UK-Apple-Store (except modem, AppleCare and additional software) and comes out as £1,749.00. £250 more than the Sony.

Still a new iMac Core Duo is still way nicer than that thing. Though I'll give em that perhaps Apple should start including IR mice and keyboards with the new iMacs that would use the built in IR sensors.

I think the iMac actually might outperform that thing...does anyone have benchmarks for a 2.8 Pentium D with a Radeon X700 vs. a 2.0 Core Duo with a Radeon X1600? Or even just for the CPUs?
