Hello,
I use to connect my iPhone to the internet via my iMac Airport ability.
When signaling to my iphone the WiFi net availability via Setting, and turning on my Airport on my iMac, the iPhone had detected first of all my own net work on my computer, and by so doing, I had the ability to connect the internet as wish.
Few days ago, this ability has disappeared, and I can't find why.
Now when looking for an Wi Fi connection, when the AirPort on my Mac is open, the iPhone doesn't detect any more my own computer. My computer WiFi doesn't appear any more among the WiFi networks available in the AirPort pop-up menu, neither on my iPhone.
I wonder if something can be done to revive my WiFi connection.
TIA
Jack

Switch network sharing off (on the iMac). Rename the shared network. Turn network sharing back on. Can the iPhone now see it?

Thanks for your reply.
No, the iPhone couldn't detect the new network.
Even on the pop-up menu of the AirPort, up on the right side of the menu bar.
I hope you can guide me further more

When you write "Rename the shared network"
you mean that in the file sharing window or in the Network window
Restart didn't do well, but it may be I was wrong in understanding.

Rename as in change the name of the network the iPhone will connect to.
Sys prefs > Sharing > Internet Sharing > AirPort Options... > Network Name

Internet Sharing is in a check box in the left-hand side of the Sharing pane. Check it. When it's highlighted, you'll see all the options Simon mentions.

OK, I understand it now.
I found all what Simon explains, and did all his instructions, still, my Mac shows various WiFi connections around my home, but doesn't recognize my own computer, and naturally, my iPhone is unable to connect via WiFi to my computer.
I am coming back to step 1 without solution. I need help.

Had to start from scratch? That often happens. The important part is that you got things working. Congratulations!

Good to hear.
I have found Internet Sharing to be fairly unstable. I often ended up picking up the wifi connection from the 'server', but not being able to transmit any data to or from the 'client'. Switching sharing on/off usually didn't do the trick either. But renaming the network and then restarting it somehow got things to work again. My guess is there's something being cached that gets screwed up. When you change the name you force settings to be read again rather than getting them from a corrupted cache.
It's fairly similar to the network problems people experience that all of a sudden disappear once they stop using the automatic profile and set up a new profile.
