Dijon mustard has gone mainstream since 1991.

How is it a flub? The latter two are people not knowing how the world works, Obama's was ordering a meal. It's apples and orange x1000000

This is politics. It doesn’t need to be a real flub. All it needs are the optics of one.

Edit: to clarify those optics, Obama is a member of the elite class. By behaving in a way reminiscent of a Grey Poupon commercial, he evoked this class, not the class the burger came from.

Dijon mustard is middle class tops.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

And it tastes a hell of a lot better on a burger than the yellow stuff does.

That’s its own issue.

If you can’t shoot a burger straight, then it’s no good.

It holds its position due to the ad campaign, and because it’s French.

Edit: “held” may be more appropriate. We’re talking about 10 years ago.

Ah, so you admit it's not a flub.

Yeah, but who actually bought that then, let alone now? Also, that's the ****ing point here: NYT is trying to manufacture an Obama flub for the sake of both-sidesing a headline.

Here's the best part – I can give you an apple-to-apples fake flub between Obama and Trump: Obama using dijon on a burger and Trump liking steaks well-done and with ketchup.

What makes the flubs not comparable is Dijon mustard has nothing to do with disenfranchisement, while IDs do.

Of course it’s not a flub.

Just like a tan suit isn’t a flub, or a missing lapel pin isn’t a flub.

Yet, for all their justifiability, Obama decided not to double-down on any of these.

I submit this is because within the context of politics it isn’t reality which has the semantic grip on the word “flub”.

The alternate headline may have been written with the intent to subvert this, but as I said, I think it’s more likely the result of a hack who thought they could slap a band-aid on the structural problems of the article.

Considering you were complaining pretty hard about inaccurate headlines re: Trump tweets a few months ago, your mostly indifference to this is... puzzling.

How is “second string writer botches attempt to fix structure of article” comparable to the argument I was making about the tweets?

Because headlines are consumed far more often and easily than the articles they represent?

Boston Globe gets bomb threats after criticizing Trumps war on the media. Boston Globe and NYT are owned by same company. Papers from across the nation weighed in, both conservative and liberal.

NYT seems to have bought some GOP disinformation on Rosenstein hook, line, and sinker. Not sure how it got to publish when Wapo was able to get proper context on it within an hour or two.

Someone was trying to goad Trump into firing Rosenstein and the NYT recklessly bought it.
