If it is Intel and OSX anyone can code apps for it and that means Skype can be downloaded on the iPhone for VOIP, right?

Again they must mean exclusive in the US as it will ship in the UK and in Asia and they don't got cingular.

Think about what a good game system this phone can be:
1) Touchscreen (DS)
2) Motion detection (wii)
3) Large widescreen (PSP)
4) Wireless. Wifi and BT.
5) Bluetooth for add on controllers

I use SMS every day, but not for chatting. Just to get information across in a short and concise manner. After all is only 160 7-bit characters, 140 8-bit characters and 70 16-bit.
From what I'm told, SMS isn't used so much in Japan. They have some other protocol.
Also, I hope the iPhone supports MMS. I mean.. of course it does, right?

Here's what I'm hoping for.
Plug in the Nike+ adaptor, go for a run, and after the run the iPhone automatically syncs with nikeplus.com and you can use iPhone's Safari to view your run.

Wonderful product, but I think I'm going stay with my old SLVR. It just seems the iPhone does too much for me to wrap my brain around.
Now I'm going to be refreshing the store looking for stealth iMac upgrades for the next two months.

IMAP push email with attachments is better and will work over wifi and GSM/EDGE.

Good: All the features, Cingular (I have a 2 year contract that started this past summer), and more
Bad: Is there a camera? No UMTS, 8GB Max (I could use more, but that would prob. be asking for too much), PRICE!!

Do I think it will sell? All I can say is I'd like to have one-half of one percent of the profits just from the sale of third-party cases that will end up being made for this thing. $eriously.

I think the reason Apple went with Cingular (GSM specifically) is so they can roll the product out in Europe and Asia with fewer problems.

I get 2500 SENT text messages for $10 right now so that isn't a worry. The data plans here are nuts though but it might change as they just launched 3.5G.

Lot of good that will do, since most people I know have MMS capable phones and not internet capable phones. It isn't a question of which is better technology, but which is the more practical technology.
Email is useless for sending messages between phones until most/all phones are always connected to the net. Which they aren't. The only net they're constantly connected to is the GSM net.

nexus5.
Cingular somewhere claims avg. EDGE speed of about 80 Kbit/s. That's only a little faster than dialup. My bro get's Cingular UMTS of about 700 Kbit/s. I call that a difference.
I have to find those numbers for Cingular EDGE again. Then I'll post the link.

Questions:
1) Video out?
2) Wifi video out to ITV?
3) Can you steam media over Wifi locally from iTV or computers? What about worldwide?
4) Purchase music straight to the iPhone?
5) How much space does the OS take? Does it take it out of the 4/8 gigs on on its own ROM?
6) Cool if you could connect a BT keyboard to it to type text files or emails.

This is the device I have been dreaming about for years and years.
I have a few concerns, but right now I'm very excited.
Cingulars data plans are pretty pricey though. I'm hoping they come up with some sort of special plan just for this device. We'll see.
My wife and I both need new phones and it would get really pricey really quickly if we both got these.
Also, I wonder if they will come in any other colors? It would suck to have two identical phones.

Ok, guys, this is NOT a full blown OS where you can just load any OS X app on. I'm sure it doesn't work that way ! Those apps still have to be customized for the iPhone. Question is if Apple opens it up for 3rd party apps or not.

I think the reason Apple went with Cingular (GSM specifically) is so they can roll the product out in Europe and Asia with fewer problems.
I'll bet this is right on the money, and it sucks. I could be wrong, but it's Cingular *THE* most expensive data provider of any US carrier? Great, unveil a phone where data is a must-have, and put it on the carrier who charges the most.
My biggest gripe w/ the iPhone is the fact that no REAL widescreen 6G iPod was annouced after it. What is that? The iPhone is not an iPod, it's a nano w/ video at best, and a whole bunch of stuff I don't need if I'm not on Cingular.
I love the iPhone for the folks it's for, but what about folks who want THAT screen on JUST an iPod w/ 80GB or so? Apple, you listening?
I get the feeling that 2007 is the year Apple becomes a consumer electronics company that fades computers out...Apple, Inc. says a lot in and of itself.

1) Video out? No.
2) Wifi video out to ITV? No. Jobs said computers to Apple TV only. No iPods and iPhone.
3) Can you steam media over Wifi locally from iTV or computers? What about worldwide? Maybe the library shows up over Wifi to iTunes users.
4) Purchase music straight to the iPhone? No. Playback and sync only.
5) How much space does the OS take? Does it take it out of the 4/8 gigs on on its own ROM? Must be its own ROM or it would be slow.
6) Cool if you could connect a BT keyboard to it to type text files or emails? This I believe will be possible. A whole market of accessories will happen.
My questions are what is internal hardware specs for the CPU and chipset? Can anyone code apps for it?

It comes with a contract. We don't know the terms of that contract. They might be quite generous.

The iPhone is damn impressive. It looks like Core Animation underlies the interface. Makes me salivate for Leopard.
I really expected an iPod+phone, not a handheld Mac+phone. Shocking.
Can I download books from gutenberg.org and read them on this?
Can I GTD on this?
Is it open to developers? (My guess: no.)
