Good lord! The price of vintage Macs seems to have gone through the roof this year.

Only a while back you could pick up a Plus or Classic for £60-£70. They're at least double that now. There's a cloud classic (not an important or collectable MAc in my opinion) on for £1,500!!

Don't take this the wrong way but, would a IIfx really be worth much? I'd be much more interested in the original Mac than the IIfx.

Same goes for a Quadra. I wouldn't take it even if you gave it to me for free. I'd pay for a clean and working original Mac though.

Ironically I wouldn't pay for the original Mac when it came out, since it was so expensive and I couldn't do anything with it.

I actually didn't pull that out of my ass. IIfxs and 840avs are selling for quite a bit. As are Quadra 950s and IIcis.

An Apple II went for just under $400K the other day. These prices are going to continue to rise as Apple gets more popular.
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

That was an Apple-I, not a II, and it was actually working and included documentation.

Good point. Regardless, it was double the estimate and I'm pretty sure the estimate would have been well above whatever the last one sold for.

I collect vintage computers, mostly Apple stuff. They're expensive on eBay, but the trick is always to check Craigslist and your local electronics recycler. I could probably buy a new car with my collection, but that's not why I collect them.
