Download and install the 10.5.8 combo updater. I'm thinking maybe your update went awry.

That's called a kernel panic, and it's a serious problem that shouldn't be happening. There may be some corrupted software that was migrated over from a previous app, or it could be some problematic hardware connected. Or there could be something wrong with the hardware. If you have trouble getting to the bottom of it take it back to where you bought it for assistance.

You could also post the panic logs, which may allow us to tell you what specific problem is occurring.

Cold Warrior... its on 10.5.8 already!
Cold Warrior's point was that perhaps the previous installation was buggy, and reinstalling as a first step, might solve the problem.
Ya gotta applaud those bunnies for sacrificing their hearing just so some guy in Yonkers can have better TV reception.

The AirGrab Firewall Module driver looks suspect to me as if it may have caused the panic. I also haven't heard of it before. Try disabling it.

Airgrab:
Apple - Downloads - Networking & Security - AirGrab Network Packet Analyzer
update this to the latest version, and if it is already, throw it out.

Why would your dad need it on an iMac?

If he's on 10.5.8, shouldn't the build be 9L31a? I would still run the 10.5.8 combo updater.
