A regular .mov file will play in iTunes, but not on a video iPod.
If I follow the instructions at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/tutor...opodcasts.html, I get an .m4v file which will not play in iTunes, but supposedly will on an iPod (Idon't have one).

I must be missing something here....

There must be a way to get the podcast to play on iTunes AND an iPod, no?

I compress my videos as per this tutorial: http://freevlog.org/text/imovie_compress_transcribe.pdf
There is also a video tutorial here: http://freevlog.org/#compress

The directions are for iMovie, but the same procedure should apply if you export directly from Quicktime.

I have no problems playing my videos in iTunes and also on my iPod. I've bumped up the quality to "high" versus the "medium" mentioned in the tutorial, which helped the quality.

There's a lot of neat info on the http://freevlog.org site.

Thanks for the tip.
I have done as you suggested, and the podcast does play in iTunes.
If anybody'd like to see if it works on their video iPod, the feed is:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/birdlung

Or you can search "birdlung" at the iTunes music store, both the audio and video podcasts show up.

If not, well, I guess I'll just have to tip out to my local Apple Store and buy my own Video iPod.

I'm thinkin' the black 60GB...

Glad that helped. I'll make sure to download the video when I get home and test it out on my iPod.

I have the black 60GB ... I'm glad I went with the larger one since I have a lot of space getting used by videos.

By the way, I checked out your site, and weirdly enough, I was going to do a video of "The Jones Soda Taste Test", but I see you beat me to it!

Yeah, the family had a blast (in spite of the awful soda) with that taste test. I was going to do another one with the other side of the family, but we never got around to it.

Your video works just fine on my iPod -- looks good, sounds good.
