What are your plans?

Me, being old, I have a few options:

1) take the kids to see Into the Woods, and still be home in time for 9pm bedtime!
2) take the kids night skiing, stay up past 10pm! Maybe even 11!
3) stay in, play Skylanders Trap Team, watch movies, fall asleep on couch by 9:15.

Life of excitement over here.

Snooze. We all have work to do on December 31st and one of us on January 1st.

Who cares about a bunch of selfish celebrity nobodies and "who are yous" on TV anyway?

The colorful display of the "ball drop" would be nice if attention wasn't thwarted from it 90% of the time and put on the crowds, over-joyous commentators, or multitude of extremely annoying commercials.

1. Watch TV shows that I don't really like while dicking around on the internet.
2. Drink bourbon.
3. Listen to my wife's wiener dog bark incessantly.
4. Drink more bourbon.

I have a long standing New Years Eve tradition: NOT giving a rat's ass about it.

Will be out freezing my ass while watching fireworks, probably.

Oh, yeah, fireworks. Those are never the same on TV. When the youngest is older, we will do a real Boston First Night and go look at the ice sculptures and ice maze and listen to music and whatnot. Maybe when she's 10-12 and less likely to whine/require carrying.

My little girl loves fireworks, and I hear that's unusual for a toddler (we put earmuffs on her to protect from any possible hearing damage). "Papa! I went boom! Boom!"

Managed to find a couple to spend the evening with us. They left their kids with Grandparents so it'll be a film upstairs on the TV for our kids and some good food for the adults :

Champers and wine
Smoked salmon
Shrimp
Fois gras (don't even bother with the insults, its too delicious for me to care)
Roasted duck
Pommes Dauphine
Some veg that I can't remember
Cheese that makes my arteries scream
Unknown dessert
Depending on the hour and mood : Cognac, Rum or if we're really stoopid there's a bottle of Golden Tequila.

Anything bad happens, I'll have 2 doctors in the house to repair me and mine. One is bound to drink less than the other.

Happy New Years to the MacNNers !!!

Your wife lets you buy M3s, mine lets me buy Champagne. ;-)

Didn't get stupid enough for the Tequila, but we did have late 80s/early 90s music going until 3am. Luckily the 1st is a national holiday in France.

The wife and I usually just stay home, fix a few appetizers to snack on through the night with a bottle of champagne, then get to bed as soon as the ball has dropped.

This year, though, our daughter and her husband invited us down to do NYE with them. We went to a really good Thai restaurant, then back to their place and played cards until midnight. Watched the ball drop, then went home. A nice, quiet night for us.

I was too old to do the heavy drinking and partying many, many, many years ago.

My NYE was spent playing Hearthstone on my mom's Kindle, watching recorded episodes of Cutthroat Kitchen, eating copious amounts of sugar cookies while drinking Bailey's Irish Cream, and watching my parents fall asleep on the couch and recliner. This is largely how most of my New Years tend to go.

I fell asleep by 1:00am while watching the Twilight Zone.

I do recall flipping between Twilight Zone and The Honeymooners in the wee hours... it's all coming back now.
