I'm using my 24" iMac as a TV in the bedroom, and I need more loudness from it. Any recommendations on speakers (~$200 range, or less)? It's mostly used to watch TV series streamed from Netflix, so I don't need a ridiculous system (already have that in the living room). Perhaps a soundbar?

Ugly, overpriced, underperforming.

I have the Creative Gigaworks T20s in my garage for music. Has EQ for the bass and treble. I listen with the volume at the halfway mark, so there's plenty of headroom. $100.

Complete disagreement.
You may be thinking of Bose.

I agree on the ugly, but they are not underperforming. They're excellent. I picked some others that fit more with the new iMac, but the sound is signifcantly worse. Only advantage is the external volumer control with headphone port.

The new Mac Pro has up to 30 MB of cache inside the processor itself. That's more than the HD in my first Mac. Somehow I'm still running out of space.
