1) Mini Core Solo: $519 (refurb @ apple store)
2) Dual core Yonah from Newegg:
1.83x2 = $252
2x2 = 315

And you can get a dual core mini that is a bit faster than the 1.66 Apple sells.
Or, if you head over to page 5 of that link, he got Merom (core 2 duo) working as a drop in replacement. That's an upgrade path for the mini.
Used 1.5 minis + a Merom chip should make nice small crunchers.

Conroe is going to be way too hot for the mini enclosure.
But Merom is a nice upgrade path. Dual 2.33Ghz minis in August!

Yep, I mixed them a bit in my head. I edited my post to correct. Even if Apple doesn't include the higher speed chips in the mini, a 1.5 (or 1.66) now, either new or used, has an upgrade path. This makes it quite nice for crunching.

Apparently the mini 1.66 can do 500PPD in F@H (In Windows). Yeeeeowch!
