An interesting time to be a Powerbook buyer, just thought I would gather some data.

You cannot buy new Pismos anymore. Or Lombards for that matter

Right, but you could, "Own a Pismo and love it", or "Own a Pismo and want an AlBook."

Where's the choice "I only just ordered my 15 inch PowerBook, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love it?"
Damn I hate waiting for new toys

Well, I have a 15" and I love it, I wanted to buy a new PowerMac at first but I found the PowerBook to be more bang for the buck actually. Well, until the 970 comes along that is.

I voted for selling my Ti to get an Al but what I'm actually doing is selling and then seeing which way the wind blows. If the next 15" is just a Ti 1GHz wrapped in Al then I'd probably get the Ti at a discount. However if a rev.B 12" comes out soon and has more RAM, an L3 cache and DVI (optional) then I'd probably go for one of those. One thing's for sure - it's a good time to be waiting to buy.

I believe that would be "Powerbooks are too expensive, I dream, but will never buy one."

bizarre poll.
I need a choice for "love my TiBook 500, but as soon as there's a 970 based PB available will sell and buy a new 15 or 17 inch PB"

i've got an ibook 600
i've got money for any 'book i want but really think that none of them are worth the money. sure they'll all be a lot faster than what i have but the features still seem so lacking for the dough.
before i shell out $x000.00 the next machine has to have:
1.2GHz Proc
60GB drive, preferrablly 5400rpm, damnit apple!
minimum of 12-16x internal burner
if i get a 15" the resolution has to be higher than what it is now, otherwise i might as well get another 12" laptop, which i've loved for the past 1.5 years.... this ibook may be relativly slow, but no upgrade right now is worth the dough IMHO.... and i use my comp for more than surfing the web...
until these things pass, i'll be patiently waiting(whining)....as always.

I've got a brand new 1ghz 15" but it's so tethered down (6 usb devices, 8 firewire devices, pc card attached to it) that I'm looking at getting the 12" for the road.

15" and 17" powerbooks don't need a second bay for a battery. Buy a second battery, when the first one runs down, put laptop to sleep, swap batteries out and wake laptop back up. There is an internal 3 minute sleep battery in both the 15" and 17" laptops. The 12" inch loses out because of it's form factor i guess.
But then that procedure requires you to put the laptop to sleep for all of 5 seconds and from reading and the polls that float around these forums a majority almost seem scared of using the sleep functionality.
On the main topic of this thread.
Got my 1G TiG4 in November of last year and I have no plans for replacing it for at least 2 years.. yet ...
