I keep getting only audio and then a bump over to Apple about loading some non-apple helper apps so I can watch an avi file on a link. I have VLC, Divix and one other media player but both Safari and Opera default to QT.

I don't want to buy extra apps if the ones I have would play the file. (they do off CD-Rs)
I somehow need to dnld the file onto the desktop ..but Safari won't let me. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for the help.

Thanks CG. I snagged it. ...in fact I tore out pg. 73 of Macworld/s March issue because I mentioned the same thing; PERIAN was one on the list. Thanks again.
