The lounge was the place where we could post pretty much anything outside normal Mac stuff.
The Gaming forum was for Mac Gaming.
Now ALL gaming threads are going there. We're not used to it (obviously) so if you're going to do this with GENERAL gaming, why not do this:
Home Theater
Dogs
Cats
Pictures
Rants about spouses
Cars
The "How are you?" forum
MAC vs. Mac
etc.
Seriously, putting general gaming in its own forum seems silly. Nobody visits the gaming forum so why force things there that aren't Mac related?

If by 'nobody visits' you mean 'I don't visit', then I agree. But that's your own problem.
For a forum that nobody visits, it sure is active. 15 people viewing at last check and 8 active threads today thus far, making it one of the most active forums site-wide.
Sorry, but half the idea behind allocating all gaming threads to a gaming forum was to get the Lounge-rats out and about. And, lo and behold, the only people who actively complain about the gaming forum are the lounge rats.
That said, I had made an attempt to get the Gaming forum moved to the Community Area, listed right below the Lounge. It went up for vote and it didn't pass.

I very much like the separate gaming forum. As I'm by no means informed on anything game related, hence usually cannot even tell - by a thread title - whether the subject is about a game or not, it's very convenient to visit the gaming forum for when I am interested in seeing what is being played/recommended these days.

If people visit the gaming forum, then why are three gaming threads moved from the lounge? People must not yet be used to posting gaming threads there.
I'd be interested in YESTERDAY'S stats, since three threads were moved there today with links directly from the lounge, that's not much of a scientific explanation of how active the forum is.

Let's see... One of those three threads was created by you. And you already knew that it would get moved to the Gaming forum since you're well aware of its existence. So one has to wonder why you bothered to create it in the Lounge?
The other two were created by the same person.
So, one person who is intentionally flying in the face of policy on gaming threads, and another who in all likelihood simply made an omission.
Anyways, feel free to subtract those three threads from the eight I counted as active if it makes you feel any better. Five active threads by lunch time still makes the Gaming forum one of our most active.
Regardless; Where the eight threads were created is absolutely irrelevant. The fact that there are eight gaming threads active anywhere today is ample justification for the existence of the gaming forum.
So you can either roll with it, or continue to intentionally create gaming threads in The Lounge, in which case there will be consequences.

I'm with Lateralus
I think it makes a lot of sense to keep it as is and if people keep trying to open gaming threads in the lounge maybe the mods should lock the thread instead of move it. I suspect its more out of laziness then ignorance.

the gaming lounge should stay anyway with big names like EA starting to release all their major titles for OS X, the OS X gaming comunity could pick up by early 08, plus just cause we have macs doesnt mean we dont boot into windows everynow and again for a game or two, i play 2 hours of gaming a day most days, mainly BF2 atm.

There are 7 people there right now-1720 CDT on Tuesday 14 August 2007. That doesn't sound like a ghost town to me.

I don't understand why people would just visit certain forums. whenever I come here I just click "new posts" and click on the threads that interest me. or use the search if I am looking for something specific

Because when you get used to something after 7 years, you wonder why such a radical change is necessary at all. It's also hard to get used to it, despite the fact that Lat thinks I did it intentionally

Because you did.
Stop. Did you feel that? The feeling you had right before you decided to reply to this post? That was you knowing that I am right.

I think it is clearly stated after the heading that it is for Gaming for Mac OS X and all other platforms, including Windows, handhelds, and consoles.
This should be clear enough to understand that all gaming related belongs there. But somehow, few get lost and posted in the Lounge section.

Liar is such a strong word. But, yes.
And you can't force a forum change because you won't break a browsing habit.

So let's get this straight. I make a mistake and you have the balls to call me a liar? Just because you have blue stars doesn't give you that right.

Just wait for the bickering between banned members and moderators.
It's not really that bad. I'm not trying to turn you away or anything.

Not that I want another vote at this point, but I did think the poll had a bit of trickery.

Why? Is it due to the fact the poll was placed in the Boneyard, err Gaming Lounge?

The thread was: Would you rather see Gaming elsewhere?
You figure it'd be yes or no, but instead they gave you 3 options, and no ability to vote for multiple ones. The yes vote was essentially split into two categories.
