Hi
Anyone tried to migrate a MBP Early 08 (10.5.6) to the new MBP 15" unibody by simply cloning or moving the boot HD ?
I did so successfully when I switched my from former 07 MBP to the current one (using CarbonCopyCloner). But is the unibody chipset/hardware just too different from the old one to be booted from that install.
Thanks,

You should be fine for OS X as long as the OS on your old MBP is fully updated, but you may need to wait for 10.5.7. You will run into problems if you're using Windows

I'm only running Windows from VM Fusion, not Boot Camp. I reckoned that I would eventually need to reinstall vmtools.

It will not work since the start codes are different with the unibody series. It has been tried. Nothing will boot the unibody besides the install disk that came with it, or a copy of the drive from the unibody. NOTHING.
