Probably wouldn't be too hard to make it radio controlled.

It can be modified for RC, it wouldn't be that difficult.
I'd consider buying something like that. Set it up for RC, and (carefully) have fun with it. Would be a nice investment.

If he's happy, and doesn't mind selling the car, why should he do anything else?
Maybe he doesn't want a "job".

I don't know the details and haven't looked at his homepage.
But I know people myself that "just do what they like to do and makes them happy", while living of unemployment money. Well, I don't agree with that attitude.
Whereas here in the US, you can hardly live of it, in Germany (and many parts of Europe), people are having a good time living off the government.

Who says he doesn't have a job? There are a lot of people building models in their spare time as a hobby.

True, but given the time he has in it, I can't imagine that he did a lot whole lot more than build that model. 20,000 hours is a considerable block of time.

If he built a 1/3 scale Suburban, the truning signals wouldn't work at all.

I wanna see a Shriner get it.
The other guys would be in their little carts, then one guy would be tearing up the street in his Shriner Ferrari.

Err, the the guy is a telecom engineer according to the film. And he says he had no money to buy parts etc, so he had to do everything by himself. 20.000 hours over 15 years is 3-4 hours a day, I know enough people who spend that time for their hobbies...

So, he went to work, then came home and worked on the model until he went to bed... every night for 15 years.
If he asks for less than $500,000, he's daft.

Yep. So do the brake lights, gauges, etc. It's crazy. As to the R/C comments... that'd be dumb. It would be slow next to any other radio control car. This isn't built for performance, it is a REPLICA. Scaling things up or down doesn't really work that well in terms of performance, hence why you can't have huge electric cars that haul ass.. the batteries weigh too much, or the range is awful. If you increase something twice in size, the volume goes up a lot more than that, and **** gets heavy.
This would make a HORRIBLE radio control car, not to mention how bad it would be to hit a curb with it.

I think Ferrari should give this guy a ferrari, then hire him, move him to italy, and set him up with a shop and employ him to make ferrari models fulltime. They'd be awesome, and they'd be freaking amazing for museums.

I second this motion. This guy is talented.
It would've been nice to see this car on a road at speed, but it must be difficult to find 1/3 scale people these days.

That thing ain't fully functional. One of the functions of a Ferrari is to score chicks with it, and a scale model ain't gonna do that. Therefore, it's one function short of "fully".

Yeah, why are they built to only accommodate a 25 y/o female supermodel with size 7 feet?

So you can't give rides to fat chicks in 'em and degrade the brand value.

I don't think they want fat guys driving them either. It keeps the thinner, better-looking people driving them. Besides, everybody knows that fat people only drive SUVs these days.

Personally, I fit into a Ferrari with moderate comfort (6' 0", 190lbs), but the real problem is my size 11, EEE width, feet. The pedals are so close together that I have to be really careful when I'm depressing the clutch.

Oh dear. This has veered off into a direct I didn't anticipate.
(edit: Oh dear. Moving house tiredness has gotten the better of me. I'm barely literate. Time for sleep).
