Today, December 5, 2008, medicineman passed away in the early afternoon.
He learned he had inoperable lung cancer only a month or so ago. I drove 9 hours to visit him, and I brought a few folks from the macnn irc channel with me.
He was intent on fighting this thing. He wasn't going to give up.
He was a father, a grandfather, a husband, a pharmacist who cared deeply for his employees and the community his business served.
He was a person I loved and respected, and I'm going to miss him.
The service will be on Tuesday. I'll post as I know more.

My longtime girlfriend has someone in her immediate family with lung cancer. He already fought it off once last year, and it came back so fast. He's in the later stages of the cancer, and it's very painful to watch. I can only imagine what it must have been like for medicineman and his family.
I wish all the best to his family and hope they have the support to get through this.
(The person I mentioned was not a smoker btw, so horrible...)

I only used irc once or twice. I saw him in there but we never chatted. I am sad to see he passed away.
