I got my black macbook about 2 weeks ago, and i've noticed that the colors just don't seem as vivid or lively as they do on the g5 I have at work. The g5 has 2 monitors (a 23" studio display and a 17" nec screen) and they both look like they have more color saturation then my macbook.
I've tried messing with the color set-ups but since I don't know a lot about the i just get either a reddish or blueish screen.
Did anybody encounter the same problem? Is there a solution or is it just because the macbook is cheaper than the pro line?
Thanks in advance,
Dan

I would talk to Apple about it. The MacBook screen is one of the most vivid in any Mac in my opinion.

I'll take the macbook to the office tommorow and hook it up to the nec monitor and see if that gives me better colors (then I will know if it's the screen or the video chip), after that i'll call apple about it.

Try downloading a Macbook optimized color profile (do a Google search, there are some out there) and seee if that helps.

I agree with your disappointment. I have Macbook Pro and a Toshiba. Text is clearer and colors more vivid on both tehn my Macbook Black. It's a glossy vs matte (sic?) screen issue I am told.

really?... every macbook ive used is washed out compared to not only the iMac but the MacbookPro as well. I still think the Macbook screen is AWESOME for the price you pay, but by no means does it even compare to the Macbook Pro, take a look yourself if you dont believe me.

I use a MacBook all the time. It really depends on light conditions. I agree that in the sun and bright light that it looks pretty washed out, but in medium and dark it looks pretty darn good. Way better than an iBook.

I've found SuperCal to work pretty well. That said, I've never tried with anything else.

Hi,
Would you mind sharing your profile with us? I've used SuperCal and it helped, but it's still not as I like it.
Thanks,
Mark

Hi,
No problem. You should be able to find it here:
/Users/<your user name here>/Library/ColorSync/Profiles/
Thanks very much.
