First: I only caught about 10 minutes of them on the tee-vee the other night.
I've assumed that they are a test-bed for future olympic events. (X = Experimental?)
They were doing snowmobile racing .... Is the Olympics getting into motorsports? What's next? NASCAR as a summer event?
How about Olympic Bowling!

I thought they were X for Extreme sports. I've seen some whacked out stuff on there.

It is ESPN's way of filling time. I don't mind the X Games, I just wish they would aknowledge that they were created just for something to fill up their overstretched channels.

My friends and I made these fake ones back in 1998 or so to poke fun of the whole genre. I wanted to really make it look more official, but just never got around to it. Ah well...
Yeah, "X" for "Extreme." Anyone using the word "extreme" for anything after the year 2000 should be shot.
I always make fun of this by referring to Taco Bell's "Extreme Number Two Combo."

It's like the Olympics, but everyone's naked!
Get it, X-Games! (Why isn't anyone laughing?)
Yes, that X certainly stands for eXtreme. In fact, it was called the Extreme Games until a few years ago. It's held twice a year (summer games and winter games) and makes Disney plenty of cash.

Yeah, that's what I thought at first. Something that deals with inflatable dolls and those red balls people have strapped into their mouths, whips and leather panties and...

It's mainly a way to give "alternative" sports a chance to compete in an organized competition. I personally like skateboarding half-pipe and motocross step-up (high jump). I personally HATE rollerblading half-pipe and street looooge (sp?).
