In the notes for 10.1.3 (I downloaded the notes but not the update itself):

2825907 Finder CMM plugins don't display correctly for Japanese

This is the first I've heard of it! Is this an API that Apple helpfully haven't documented?

CMM plugins already exist. Sort of.

They're not programmed the same way as the CMM plugins we know from OS9. But they can theoretically do the same stuff. Only problem is, no one knows how to make them. Aladdin apparently found out, as they have some CMM stuff in their Stufit Deluxe package for OSX, but they're not telling.

So now that I think about it, perhaps a more appropriate answer would be "yes and no".

They've been in OS X since 10.1 And Aladdin isn't the only one to have made a CMM Plugin; I'm using Zingg and Xray as well. That makes three contextual menu plugins I'm using at this time. I'd hardly say that there is any way in which CMMs do not "exist" in Mac OS X.

Thanks for the information!

It's interesting that CMWorkshop requires 10.1.2. Perhaps CMMs need to mature a bit before Apple release the spec.

I'm really pleased they're there. Even if they get Services working in the Finder, they're just not organised enough or contextual enough to take the place of CMMs.
