I have had enough with the lousy QuickTime Player 4 (Pro). I may go back to MoviePlayer 3.

If I were to do this, what features would I lose.

Please do not suggest the WinFix. I have applied it; it isn't enough.

wasn't it MoviePlayer 2.5.1 that was the last before QTPlayer? whatever...

for one thing, MoviePlayer won't do streaming, i forget what it would do other than .mpeg's and .avi's and .mp3's

No. Version 3 was the last one called MoviePlayer.

Using version 2.5 with QuickTime 3 (not Pro) would let you use all the newly supported file formats and allowed for some video editing without paying $30.

It isn't the player that supports streaming, AVIs, and MP3s. QuickTime itself does that. Any program that supports QuickTime should be able to open these files.

hey i realize that the guts of QT is not the player... i fired up my 2.5.1 (still have it for reasons you mentioned) and checked it out, i can't figure how it would do streaming though... (oh wait, yes, just assign it as helper app for streaming)
and obviously MoviePlayer has no EQ like QTPlayer, no drawer for links/mp3's/etc

hey i'm not so crazy about QTPlayer either, but what about it makes you hate it?

read that a long time back, was more interested in YOUR particular gripe, like what is the WORST thing about it in your opinion, is it overall unease of use of the controls, etc

It's the overall interface that drives me crazy.

I need to clarify my original question: Would the export and import options be affected by switching from QuickTime Player 4 to MoviePlayer 3?

I have decided to stick with my WinFix modified QuickTime Player 4.

MoviePlayer 3 does not work well with QuickTime Streaming.
