Okay, so I fired up MacNN today and got this:

Did turtle777 hack the forum, or is this a banner ad gone awry?

(sorry - in my amusement, I forgot to grab a link to the image)

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I was going to post and complain about the same thing. This destructive web ad ended my ability to read the article I was on and I couldn't find a close button. My local newspaper has similar problems (although this one takes the cake) where it launches/drops down obnoxious web ads until you hit close..

I really got to admit, these really tick me off and distract from the enjoyment of the website we're visiting...

here's my photo of it...

I got this same one on my iPhone and it was a bitch since it took up most of the screen.
I like my water with hops, malt, hops, yeast, and hops.

CharlesS: I think you have a virus. The banner that I saw was a giant rabbit.

That's weird, cause I wasn't looking at the page in Ubuntu. Maybe I have a virus too...

How odd. I’m haven’t seen any of those banners here, and I know for certain that I have a virus (probably flying pig flu).

This has been taken care of. No turtles were harmed during the action scenes.

Did you at least rough them up a little bit? Verbally abuse them?

The turtles were innocent victims of a scam. They were promised small parts in Hollywood movies in exchange for their cooperation with the perps. We gave the turtles bus fare home and some cash for lunch. They were grateful to be going home to Ma and Pa.

You're welcome.

You're very trusting, Lone Star. In my experience turtles are evil and not to be trusted.

Also, they seem to be immune to waterboarding.

Ah, but these were naive young turtles that had never been to Wichita before, let alone outside of Kansas. They had their audition tapes and their dreams with them, only to have their tapes erased to record reruns of Baywatch and their dreams squished under hobnailed boots. We took pity and sent them home to make a new start.
