So, hypothetically, let's say I do a search for the word "test" and use the Show Posts option. I'll get this search page:

http://forums.macnn.com/search.php?searchid=1587992

Okay, so this turns up a bunch of posts. The first one (at least at the time I write this) is this:

http://forums.macnn.com/90/mac-os-x/...d/#post3403790

However, there doesn't seem to be any way to skip right to that post from the search page. Now, as this was a relatively short thread, it's easy enough to find that post, but sometimes the thread is 15 pages long. Needless to say, it would be really nice if there were a way to skip straight from the search page to the individual posts that it is turning up.

Thanks for looking into this,
Charles

Ditto. It's fracking annoying when you're trying to find a post in a thread that's ten pages long.

It would probably already be like that if it was feasible to do; I take it the reason it’s not is that it’s either not possible, or just not possible for anyone who’s not a vB coder to tweak it so.

Except that it used to work that way before the redesign, which would seem to indicate that it's actually very possible with vB.

Do these forums use any vB code modifications/patches?

Yes, about seven hundred thousand of them, I think.

(Though they may only be vB template mods/patches, I’m not sure)
