Mod edit: this discussion was split from a Feedback thread on a different topic. <-- reader50

I just took a gander, and it's really ENTIRELY spam posts, now.

Might as well close it down.

Edit by SH: I have no affiliation with the wombat, and am not a member there. This post was mere curiosity, not vested interest.

Yeah, it's not even working right now. I actually cleaned it out last week. The problem is that I can't ban any users. There are about 150 spam accounts that need to be deleted, but no one to do it. The servers that besson are using started having issues a few weeks ago. It's actually pretty easy to delete the spam since I locked every thread over there. Basically, there's no mix between spam and actual posts. I think I need to copy a few recipes I had over there before it's gone forever.

Yeah, I'm an admin, I just haven't any time to fuss around with figuring out how to grant other users the ability to ban as non-admins. I might just make others admins and be done with it.

You should just modify the login script at teh wombat so that it displays random captchas, but the answer to all of them is "Steve Gutenberg" on odd days and "George Takei" on even days.

What would we do without you, Dork.? I love you!

Maybe the captcha could spell out Burt Reynolds upside down too, just to really confuse those bots? I want those bots to return to their master and outputting "PC Load Letter" they are so ****ing confused, and with a virus to spread across all of spamville that makes it clear that we do not want their kind there or anywhere else.

Maybe we should prepare for a grand new relaunch of the Wombat and make it better than MacNN?

We are not so good at planning stuff... The original plan was not to have a plan, unless Dork. had one that we weren't aware of? He's kind of the brains behind the Wombat, Cubeoid was the Antonio Bandaras passion, wdlove was the mascot, and Abe was entertainment. Gossamer used to show up and used to ask us to help him upload pictures of his cats, but then he turned into Laminar, and well, you know the rest...

We also had other guys that would post recipes, Dork. used to try to convince us all that the Mets were going to win this year, and we also had Kevin Moon tell us all about his rocks, and some other people doing other stuff. There used to be a lot of glory back in those days, but Cubeoid left us, certain members started having illicit affairs, and we all got tired of looking at Gossamer's cats, so our empire sort of languished.

Turtle: if I setup an entire section for you to rant about Obama and politicians, and a second section for the MacNN hamstar, would you participate?

I'm thinking that Fuzzy Wombat 2.0 needs to have something for everybody, a *lot* more sections. Maybe I should make a Mets section for Dork., and a jazz section for me... I could make a section for Big Mac to post about Jewish stuff and apocalyptic stuff, an animated .gif section, a car section for Rob and Laminar, a Libertarian heavy metal section for Doofy to rock out, hmmm....

We could also set things up so that certain member posts are all placed into a censored forum.

Wombat 2.0 needs more censors.

Ironically, "protecting the endangered wombat" is my euphemism of choice when referring to self-pleasuring.

If that alone is enough to make the wombat so endangered that self-pleasuring can be considered protecting it, then she must have a scary cave.

My apologies. I just assumed your general gloominess and negativity had to have some kind of source, and marriage would be the most likely one. This is a joke, if it’s unclear.
