OK . . . don't kill the messenger, but I just heard on the radio that Bono got his own Red MacBook from Steve Jobs this week to match his red iPod . . . . if they put a premium on black, why not put a premium on red with some of the proceeds going to the Charity?

Just a hunch but ... I'm guessing the market for red MacBooks is about nil.

And Pink for breast cancer awareness
And yellow for typhoon awareness
And blotchy brown-red-black for skin cancer awareness
And rainbowish for sexual awareness
And yellowish-brown for anti-smoking awareness
And clear with some floating ice cube for alcohol awareness

You forgot about puzzle pieces for autism awareness. And should yellow be for, uh, Really Fast Cancer-stricken Cyclist awareness?

I'd buy one, although only if it didn't flake, and it didn't cost $150 more.

I bet Apple will release a special edition Red at some point after the initial flurry of MacBook sales.

so will the extra 500 you spend through colorware or 200 you spend through apple be tax deductible as a charitable donation?

I think Yellow would be tight -

you know . . someone out there must be making some kind of sticker as we speak

does anyone have an old Mossimo sticker they're not using . . .

I'm sure some people would buy faux wood trimmed MacBooks too, doesn't means Apple should mass produce them.

Personally I want a prime gray one, but parts of the top have to be different shades of black with a big wing on it. Will have to replace the exhaust with an exhaust port the size of a coke can, add some neon lights and maybe 1 or 2 Nozzzzzzzzzzz. Oh and don't forget the stickers...

Now now..we are not talking about mass-production....but Apple would have to figure out their break even / how much Bono's freindship means to Jobs ;-)

I must also say that I was half expecting a RED Macbook or iPod, and that the Black Macbook, given that it seems like there is a hefty premium just for the colour (though the finish might be a bit better) seems to be in bad taste...

I for one would totally love a red one... Shiny, red, just like Kaneda's motorcycle.

Red one would not be that bad... I think I would buy one. At least it's not the 'boring white/black' that everyone has
