Can anyone recommend a reliable brand of photocopier that can handle 20,000 B&W copies per month? It's going to be used in a school and reliability is essential.

We have been using Lanier (Ricoh) for about 2 1/2 years now. B & W and Color. From small departments to the bookstore/copy room. All networked too. Most have staplers. Other's are scanners/copies/printers/faxes. At a minimum, their use is copier and fax machine. The rest are all features. Pretty nice stuff. You can have them built to take codes for authorize use only or ones for pay per use for student use.

We have a pretty big contract with them. They beat out Xerox and Canon with price/performance. Our contract includes toner and regular maintenance.

I'm in a University setting and some of the public ones get beat on pretty hard and keep on ticking.

We have a Ricoh here in the office and it's pretty good, much better than the Sharp copier down the hall. Kyocera Mita seems to make a good copier too.

Stay away form Kyocera and Konica (Minolta). Kyocera couldn't meet our demand per month, without breaking down all the time. Konica couldn't get drivers to work with our mixed Unix/NT4/Win2003 servers.

Lanier even wrote special drivers for SCT Banner use on our Unix boxes.

While I know you said photocopiers, the multiuse machines (scanner/printer/copier/fax) that Lanier puts out are upgradeable. Say, you only want coping right now. Fine, that is what board gets put in the machine. A simple upgrade gives you any combination or all of the features above.
