NO NO NO! DO NOT install that piece of sh!t. It is 100% total useless bloatware. Drive 10 is one simple file and it works. Norton installs thousands of system config files, kernel extensions, hidden disk processes, startup tasks, invisible files, libraries, diagnostic routines, and plenty of other useless crap spead out all over the drive in hundreds of folders. And it didn't work for me at all. Every time I tried to defrag or run the disk scanner it said there was a fatal HFS wrapper error or something. Then I had a hell of a time getting it uninstalled. It seems even the uninstaller couldn't remember all the files it deposited on the disk. After that I went back to Drive 10 which has so far worked great for me and I've had no problems. And if you don't believe me, check the reviews on VT. Most of them are overwhelmingly negative.

I read something stating something like that months ago, or IS there really any progress?

Hope it will run on my config

MS Access (in a corporate environment with 70,000+ employees, about 1/4 using Access, it is unrealistic to consider switching to FileMaker, so Access should give cross-platform use)

MS Project
Yes, I'm old, but still learning

I believe that Maple is actually available in an X11 version for OSX if you request. The only limitation that would give you is that you can't copy and paste graphics and the scroll bars won't looks quite as elegant. However Maple has always had a more "utilitarian" interface relative to Mathematica.

However I do agree. I'm looking forward to Maple.

Is it the Soleseek project? If not, what stage in development is your project at?

I can't wait for a good OS X version of Soulseek as its the only reason I leave VPC 6 on at all the time now.

I'd like to see Windows XP ported to the Mac

Other than that, I can't think of anything else I'd like to see ported

Dear god nothing i cannot think of one single Windows app that OS X (or OS 9) needs.

on the other hand i would love a few opensource apps ported such as:

rip
cdparanoia (needed for rip)
transcode (one of the best cli dvd rippers around waaaaay beter than mencoder)
mp3blaster

i could think of more but i could definitively say i need no windows crud.

The .NET framework, and then Microsoft Visual Studio .NET

Yes, it's sad, but I think that this is what forces me to buy a win-notebook instead of an iBook or powerbook

ESRI products. ArcView 3 was on the mac but then they went to bed with Microsoft and developed their databases to use access now and visual basic. So the mac is out for now. I hope they will turn around again. I am trying to run Arcview 8.3 on VPC 6.1. but it is emulated.

well as long as this has come back from the dead, I'll throw the various Westlaw utilities out there, for cite checking documents, creating tables of authorities, etc. There used to be mac versions, but I believe they were written for System 7.

I want Soulseek and DC++

DC++ is even open source, so there shouldnt be any problems porting it.

(yes Im aware of DCGui, but I want a real native OSX-app!)

And if someone has the spare time - 3D Studio Max !

I would like to see something to manage my eBay auctions... I'm positive eLister is scam and CALC is somewhat a piece of junk. The software I use has the winner for Hideous Interface of the Year but it is hands down an amazing management utility.

Shooting Star - Screenie

I would like this combined with an eBay poster utility.. either Poster Toaster or eBay TurboLister (which they say they are making).

Poster Toast - Screenie

THEN... it would be amazing for someone to make a program like AuctionTamer.

AuctionTamer - Screenie

eBay support on Mac is just plain junk. With the beauty of an Aqua interface and this functionality I could finally sell that last remaining PC that I like to hide in the corner. Luckily I just RDC into it and use it on my Mac desktop.

Agent, Sound Recorder (built-in), PicaView, Microsoft ActiveSync, Nero, built-in network traffic monitor, TClock, Cute FTP... but some of those have very good replacements, of course.

Is there an equivalent program available for OS X? Publisher is nice in that you can easily do some basic layout work (I'm talking little flyers, greeting cards, etc). The professional packages (Quark, InDesign) would be overkill for this kind of thing, not to mention way too expensive. I've tried to use AppleWorks for this in the past without much success.
