Is the iPod head phone jack the standard headphone jack, or is it different? I have no idea but if anyone could tell me, I would be much appreciative.

yeah, its standard... they all are i beleive, unless you get somthing that needs one of those massive ones.

Cool. Someone told me you needed to buy the apple ones if your originals died because others wouldnt fit in the jack.

Next thing they'll tell you that you have to buy Apple RAM for your Mac, and that my family will have to purchase a garage from Toyota so it can accommodate our old Corolla.
 It's a universal headphone jack. Probably one of the most ubiquitous ports on the face of the planet.
