I’m kind of surprised I haven’t seen this issue posted anywhere else, but I’m having horrible difficulties getting my iWeb sites to post correctly. Check it out at http://www.ourlittleleah.com: anything outside of the basic, cross-platform keyboard (i.e. anything you can type without using the [option] key or the Character Palette) shows up as a <?>.

Could this possibly be a server issue? I can certainly open TextWrangler and replace everything that’s showing up weird with the unicode equivalents (e.g. “&#8212” instead of “—”), but that would get pretty darned annoying, pretty quickly, and I can’t imagine that’s what Apple intends for their “easy-to-use” web-authoring app.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Well I'm pretty sure I remember Apple showing iWeb as being fully multi-language, I believe it uses UTF-8 encoding, so something's going wrong somewhere...

Yeah, I’ve also uploaded the site to a .Mac account and it’s beautiful. I’ve complained to my web host and they’re looking into it. Still, any other suggestions are welcomed!

I guess you used FTP for uploading your files? If so, be sure to activate "binary" mode in the FTP client. This problem often occurs if you transfer files using the "text" or "ascii" mode of the FTP client. I'm sure the problem will vanish if you reupload all files in binary mode.
