FRAUD ALERT!: Mastersonics, Sends products that are different than the ones he represents.
DO NOT DEAL WITH HIM!
A BIG HEADACHE!

I PAID 80 dollars thinking i was getting an original apple airport card, but he sent me a airport extreme card. What kind of deal is that? A used airport extreme card for 80 bucks, that's what it costs at apple.com. OH man. This has been a headache. He is a scammer posing as a normal member.

I was ripped off my Mastersonics. do not deal or do business with him. I bought an apple airport card but instead he sent me the apple extreme card, which is way cheaper,come on. I contacted him to let him know that I did not receive the product that was represented to me. he made no attempt to contact me until I disputed the charge at paypal, to no success at getting my money back because i didnt purchase through ebay, but through here. Just if he offers to sell you anything, man, don't get burned like I did. Here is the email that he sent me and my reply after i received the packag:

You are a scammer that scams people. You did not sell me a cheap card. A new apple airport extreme card costs 80 dollars at apple.com. Its because of you and stuff like this that internet commerce is not as popular as it should be in the world. That is not cheap you scammer. I will never do business with you again.Never. And I will let Macnnforums.com have a whiff of this. So they can see the kind of person that you are. So hopefully someone wont make the mistake i stupidly make. If you would have been honest you could of have at least taken it back and given me a refund. But you can't even do that. You are mr. rivera a thief.

Your original thread stating you wanted to purchase an Apple Airport card does not specify what card you wanted. Mastersonics is probably being a dick, but then again he sold you what you asked for.

Just my 2 cents worth but I think when you say -

1 - Airport Card it refers to the original 802.11b card

2 - Airport Extreme Card it refers to the newer 802.11g card

(Of course we are not privy to all communications between these two individuals so we cannot know for sure what was represented and therefore can not pass judgement)

However, in the interest of good will, couldn't Mastersonics make it good? It's public knowledge now and it's hard to close the door once it's open, however, simply saying "too bad, find someone to buy it from you" doesn't sound so great either.

You can get a refurbed airport extreme for $69.00 at the Apple Store online. $80.00 for a used Extreme card isn't very good, while $80.00 for an airport card in today's market is excellent.

Just one of the hazards of buying online I guess. FWIW- I'd be ticked off too if I were Jorge- likely with myself and Mastersonics. Enought to go around I suppose.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Airport Card = Original, plain and simple.

Charging $80 for an extreme that is used is highway robbery. Suggesting you go and sell it instead of working something out is insulting.

i gotta say, i wouldn't deal with mastersonics after this kinda exhibition...

it sounds like he knew what the guy needed and purposely decieved him. i woulnd't call it fraud, but it definitely wasn't the nice transactions you expect from fellow members at macnn --

you expect this kinda stuff from eBay, but why would you charge MORE than a new one cost ($79) for a used card?

either way, i do appreciate the heads up on mastersonics

If, as said, the posted requested an Airport card, then the seller did ship the wrong product. Airport and Airport Extreme are two different products.

If both parties want to act in good faith, the right thing to have happen here is for the buyer to ship it back to the seller and for the seller to reimburse him the $80. They should split the shipping.

That's the right thing, but I doubt it will happen. Buyer be ware.
