31 years, 15 albums, and they are done. All amicable, no big fights and telling each other to off.

R.E.M.HQ: NEWS

Sad news, I have all the albums and were probably the first band I really got into.

It'll be much easier if you just comply.

I don't know if I'd say sad news. The last thing I remember them releasing was their greatest hits... like 6 years ago?

A good end to a good band, but is it really a end... I do see tours in the future and maybe benefit or cause concerts. Wont see any new Albums but I don't think we have herd the very last of the group yet.

Rare to see a band end amicably. Plenty of good music, although I don't remember anything past the mid-90s.

Apparently they release three studio albums since their greatest hits. Well, then.

I enjoyed their music, and owned a few of their albums. But all good things must end.

I really liked Automatic for the People and New Adventures in Hi-Fi but am pretty indifferent to rest of their catalog.

I feel fine.

He's senile, pay no mind.
I kid.

R.E.M. - I can think of 3 songs by them, all from decades ago. Kudos on the friendly breakup tho.

I love how in all of the comments I've read on this news across the net, there are so many people who seem to be of the belief that bands either break up or otherwise cease to exist after they've had their mainstream hit(s).

Musicians do not live and die at the whim of pop radio.
