Same here. We haven't broken 100ºF here yet, where last year's average high temperature for July was 100.6ºF. It's much more comfortable here this year-and a lot wetter, too.

Normal summer day in Mississippi... I also heard that places in NYC still don't have AC...How is that possible?

(Dex this is not a response to your post but one in general)
I don't really buy into the whole Global Warming stuff in the sense of Al Gore's way but I do believe the Earth has periods of warming and cooling by natural means. (If that makes any sense whatsoever) I also think that us here in the Southeast are used to these warmer temps, with the heat and humidity it doesn't seem as bad and we know how to handle it (not saying anyone is a pansy but that we grew up in this heat we are more acclimated to it) where as people up North aren't really used to the humidity.

I was reading a book written by several civil war soldiers on the battle of Vicksburg,MS which was May-July in 1863. The soldiers from Ill, NY and other northern states stated how horrible the winters were with the mud and how hot and humid the summers were with the bugs coming in at a close second. This was a time of obviously no A/C but people in the North were not used to the conditions in the Southern region.

1. They were comparing a coastal climate with a sort-of-interior climate. More extreme seasonal swings.

It's been a pretty normal summer here. Low 90˚s in the day time, storms and rain at night and cools down to the 60˚s.

Wait a minute, so now that Bush is out of office, liberals don't bitch up an eschatological storm every time the outdoor temp changes?

I remember how, circa 2002-2008, you guys were in hysterics every time things heated up during summer, claiming that Bush/Republicans/SUVs/Rush Limbaugh were responsible for the coming climatological holocaust.. Hmm..

Now the conservatives bitch up an "eschatological storm" every time the outdoor temp goes lower.

Check the pol lounge.

Average temperature in July where I live is 84° — it's been in the low to mid 90s most of the time this year. This is hot.

According to a weather report I watched last week, there's been a massive heat wave covering the midwest, south, and northeastern US this summer, although it's occasionally relieved for a bit by thunderstorms.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!
