Is it possible to tell if a new powerbook has been opened? Is there any kind of seal on the box?
The serial numbers of the defective books do they run in some sort of sequence?

The box has tape on it, and the powerbook itself is wrapped in a foam paper stuff with a larget sticker.

That's about it to prevent tampering :-\

Airborne Express delivers in a plain cardboard box with the shipping label - not too obvious it's a laptop aside from the Apple logo. Next layer is a plastic sleeve around the ever-so-stylish black PowerBook box. The PB box is one of those folding-cardboard-latch kinds, with a circle of tape that pulls off the black painted cardboard surface when opened. There's the clincher - it's nigh impossible to get that tape off without steaming it off.
