I'm relatively new to OS X and I'm trying to learn some of the ins and outs of the system, and I'm wondering if there's any way to edit the "Recent items" in the Apple-menu? You could do it easily in OS 9 simply by adding/removing aliases from the folder, but I haven't found a way yet in X...

that info is stored in home/library/preferences/com.apple.recentitems.plist - if you are not really sure what you are doing in the plist editor then you are best to just use the "clear menu" option or just wait until the stuff you don't want to see drops off the list (you can change the number of items shown in the "Appearance" preference pane)
