OK this is an odd one.

I've got an SGI monitor. Using a Dr. Bott's adaptor, I go from ADC (on the back of my nVidia GeForce4 MX) to DVI, into the "multilink" and then out to the panel.

[I tried the set up VGA-out but the screen quality was terrible, much worse than my VGA-out from a Pismo]

When I boot up in OS X, the screen is fine, except that it is drawn so that the right 150 pixels or so are cut off. They appear, in three strips, on the left side.

This doesn't happen in OS 9, except when the computer (G4 dual 1-Ghz) wakes up from sleep. I get the "firewire not responding" message, and then the wonking screen. To get it right I have to reboot.

Hey, I bought this machine to work in X, but I can't with this screen problem. Any ideas? Bad pin on the cable?

Apple's fora didn't give me any clues.

Timo
