Add another vote for Firefly. I never actually saw the show on TV. Friends loaned me the DVD and all i kep thinking was, "Something this good was actually on TV??!?!?!?!" followed by "IT GOT CANCELLED?!?!?!?!"
Family Guy
Futurama
I don't know if its cancelled but I haven't seen Venture Bros for a long time. What the hell schedule is it on?

As for Gilligans Island, didn't CBS decide to cancel it after the backlash they received regarding the future cancellation of Gunsmoke? Don't ask me how I know this. I watch TV Land way too much.

Well Firefly didn’t last long, and Serenity didn’t do well in theaters.
It had a $40million budget and only made $25,335,935 gross.
I really don’t think Firefly/ Serenity is that popular.

its tremendously popular. perhaps buy the dvd set and watch the shows in their proper order? Fox is completely to blame for killing firefly. They wanted a more "dynamic" episode order and COMPLETELY screwed up the episode showings, leaving many people with no idea of what was going on. when you stack that kind of thing against a show, any show will fail and any movie which follows it. Regardless of how much Serenity did or did not make, it got a movie after a cancelled 14 run tv series, that means a LOT of people liked it, and believed in it.
Episode order: 2–3, 6–8, 4–5, 9–10, 14, 1 eps 11-13 did not air in the US but were released on the dvd set.

As much of a Star Trek fan as I am, I can't say I'm disappointed that Enterprise was cancelled. I really just want to forget that show ever existed.

They yanked it because the new head honcho came in, and Christopher Titus did/said/was something she didn't like. She cancelled the show in what was widely regarded as "a big mistake" because it was a popular, profitable show for the network.
A great interview with Christopher Titus can be found here. He's got a new show on cable.

Re: Firefly
It's far from the greatest of television, but it had a lot of room to grow.
First seasons are rarely the best seasons of shows that have a chance to become great...the problem is, most shows are yanked from the air before they have a chance. I wasn't crazy about the characters of Firefly to begin with, but I could see enjoying them after more development—which will never come, I guess.

I think the characters were the real strength of Firefly. They were complex, ideosyncratic, interesting and very human.
Of course developing a sympathy and sentiment for difficult characters requires careful writing. The show had that, IMO.
Fox killed it by showing it out of chronolocial order. That made the characters really really difficult to warm up to because you had no idea what they had been through. This was also the weakness of the Serenity film, IMO. As a fan of show and having seen them all in the proper order, the film was great since I already had a strong connection to the charcters. Had I not seen the show and already had those feelings, I think the film would have failed to draw me in. I would have found myself (as many people apparently did) wondering why I should care about these people.

I got through Serenity okay without having seen the show at all (I still haven't. I ought to find it.) It required a little explanation. (My friends would say something as we were watching. They'd only seen the first Episode.) But I understood most of what was going on with the development. That's an incredible accomplishment, IMO. To tell a story and develop the characters in an existing universe in a 2 hour movie... Awesome.

I couldn't see the show expanding any further, because they were confined to a court setting most of the time, which limited the possible storylines. The only episode I really liked was the 2 hour Trial by Jury/Special Victims Unit episode.

TBJ lost out (in my opinion) primarily because Jerry Orbach died. If he had lived long enough for it to hit the screens for a few weeks, I think it would have at least lasted a whole season. Jerry gave ALL the L&A series something, even when he wasn't a regular in them.

As first mentioned by Stradlater here:
Millennium.
I never cared much about TV Series, but Millennium had something that I never saw in another show. But then, I'm not the one who knows too many series…
Link: http://www.tv.com/millennium/show/11...full_summary=1
I really am sad that I never got to see the story expand.

"Wanda Does It" (Comedy Central)
I had not seen this show until tonight, and the quality of it was sufficient to justify raising this thread. I do not particularly care for most of Wanda's roles (including her character on Curb Your Enthusiasm), yet this was a really great show. The premise of the faux-reality show is that Wanda goes about her daily life and gets into situations that inspire her to do various things - such as flying a plane. It's quite funny and well produced. Imagine my disappointment when I found out that what I thought was a new series was actually from 2004, and there were only six episodes. There are two more episodes on right now on the West Coast for those who are interested.

I've narrowed it down to two kinds of people in this world who don't like Firefly; 1, people who thought King Kong was a good movie, and 2, people with an IQ under 40. Wait, I'm repeating myself.

Serenity (the movie) is often called "the second pilot," because it would've made an awesome 2nd season pilot.

MST3K
Although it had a long run, so I really can't complain. BUT, there are many films piling up for a new season. I'd like Crow and Tom to tear apart Aeon Flux and Silent Hill. OH, and Episode 1... that would be fun.
I wish I could have seen more Firefox; perhaps we could put one of the CSI spin-off shows out of its misery and put that into finishing off the first season.

MST3K never did recent movies. All theirs were at least a decade or two old.

I vote for Wonderfalls again. They missed all sorts of marketing opportunities and tie ins. The dvd's are really cheap now, you can pick Wonderfalls up with Point Pleasant for $30 from amazon

NightStalker on ABC was a really solid show IMO.
The worst cancellation was Sons & Daughters...that was the funniest show on TV in years.

Nowhere Man:
Great show, arguably a nod to the Prisoner show from the 1960s but full of
suspense and you never really knew what was what.
It was promptly replaced with the idiotic comedy "Homeboys from Outer Space"
which was cancelled after two airings.
Moron idiots. Television makes me angry.
Don't even get me started on Buckaroo Banzai - that was a TV show that should
have been but.....

That's how the early days of UPN were — come out with a pretty darn good show, then before it has much of a chance, replace it with something much worse that will be canceled within a month.

I loved Nowhere man. I don't know why it got cancelled. It seemed though, like it had some closure. I seem to remember the photographs turning out to be something different, like a bunch of US senators being hung behind the captial, or something... Anyone remember that?
Geeze, that was 10 years ago.
