Alright guys, I know everyone here's going nuts about the new PB's release, and I've stumbled onto a connection that I can help exactly one person get a great deal on either a new 12" PB or a new 15" PB.

PowerBook 1GHz/Combo (12.1" TFT)
1GHz PowerPC G4
Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
40GB Ultra ATA drive @ 4200rpm
256MB DDR266
AirPort Extreme Card INSTALLED
and
3-Year AppleCare Warranty for PowerBook - Enrollment Kit

From the Apple.com Store, this exact order costs $2,047 + ~$143 (7% sales tax) = $2,190

I can provide this package, brand new, no catches, to someone interested for $1,725, a $322 savings.

OR...I can provide this deal:

PowerBook 1GHz (15.2" TFT)
1GHz PowerPC G4
256MB DDR333 SDRAM
AirPort Extreme Card INSTALLED
60GB Ultra ATA drive
Combo Drive (DVD-ROM/CD-RW)
and
3-Year AppleCare Warranty for PowerBook - Enrollment Kit

From the Apple.com Store, this exact order costs $2,447 + ~$171 (7% sales tax) = $2,618

I can provide this package for $2,225, a $393 savings.

The only deal is that I have to put the order in by tomorrow at 5pm EST, so I'll need the money PayPal'd to me by then to get you the savings. This is an offer directed to me specifically, but since I'm not in the market for a new PB, I thought I'd offer the chance to the pals here at MacNN. Just PM me or post here if interested, or email me at triggahappydude *at* excite.com...hope I can help somebody out!

Hehe, nah, I'm not gonna be using this discount (although I'd love to!) but I'd be more than happy to pass it on. eScrib, email me if you're interested/have Q's.

So ... what is the discount you have and does it only apply to the configurations you've mentioned. Does applecare have to be included (cuz its cheap at smalldog and could wait a year if necessary).

Whatchoo got going over there, AsssassyN ?? And why does it expire tomorrow ??

The discounts only apply to the configs. mentioned, HOWEVER, I can BTO either one of them w/ upgrades (like the SuperDrive, extra RAM, etc.) for the exact BTO cost Apple charges. And unfortunately, AppleCare *must* be included.

It's through my University (I'm in the university MUG group, and got a crazy hookup) and the deals expire 9/17 at 5pm due to a slipup in pricing that they have to make good until tomorrow at closing.

I'm not really into the whole AppleCare thing.

And I think my buddy is interested in getting an iPod, which will allow me to get the $200 rebate, which I'll split with him.

Or should I still listen to you???

I've replied to you, and be wary, AppleCare on notebook computers tends to really pay off...if your LCD goes out within 3 years, it'll be totally covered. If you hafta pay out of pocket, it'll be well over $500, and that's just for starters. Notebooks tend to be more likely to get damaged/break over time than desktops, but the importance is up to you.
