Can this be done, and should I try it myself. I have never worked on a Ti, but have torn apart the wallstreet and Pismo/lombard series before. I want to put a bigger and faster hard drive in it.

Do it. Its easy (you only have to remove the bottom - a couple of screws) and your powerbook will be noticibly faster afterwards.

i put a 7200 rpm drive into my Ti667 and it was a lot easier than i thought it was going to be - and i'm not good at tinkering with stuff. and the machine was definitely a bit quicker. slightly more noise, but i was really glad i did it.

i didn't experience any increase in heat, but there was an increase in noise. there was more of a constant hum than with the stock model, but it wasn't enough to really bother me.

I am looking at the Hitatchi 60GB 7200 RPM drive to be exact. This is a 9.5mm, this will work with my PB...should it not? I acannot find any documentation to what size the drive is in my Ti right now. Thanks for all the help!

I have the 7,200rpm Hitichi HD as well in my new 1.67 15 inch PowerBook. I don't have any heat or noise issue after the upgrade. Fast and stable!
