Everyone seems to have a ram distributor they trust.
Ram direct, any opinion. They seem to have MAC shipped toshiba RAM at the same price (or less than) as others. IS there some reason you all have a preference for the 2 sponsoring companies?

Reason? Experience, nothing to do with who advertises where. RAM anomalies are hard to diagnose and can be hugely expensive. I have had great service and good performance from OWC products for many years but know nothing about Ram Direct. Folks I respect have had good experience with Crucial.

Without going into gory detail, my most recent experience with OWC has driven me to look elsewhere. And I've been using them since my PowerBook Pismo. Everyone I spoke to just didn't seem to care, and it ended up being a real waste of my time to do something simple. No, thanks.

Agreed. I've had the same sort of "customer service" with OWC in the past.

I just ordered 8GB at OWC for a ridicolously low 469,00. Compare that to the 1200,- Apple charges for 4GB... Works like a dream

I havent' read all the post on this but these guys have the heat sink RAM fairly cheap compared to the others. I guess it's what you guys are talking about anyway, it has a heat spreader.

i used and was very happy with mushkin for my g5 tower and g4 notebook, but their new matching system is confusing me a little:

http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/.../apple/?app=59

i assume they're calling the 2.0, 2.66 quads because there are two dual cores
and the 3.0 an 8 core because its 2 quads. am i right? i'd rather not roll the dice.
