MyFitnessPal has released an update to its Calorie Counter and Diet Tracker app for iOS 8's HealthKit. Featuring a food database of over 4 million entries, users can log and track what they eat and how much they exercise as part of maintaining a fitness regimen. MyFitnessPal v.5.6.6 allows users to add meal summaries logged to HealthKit by automatically sharing meal data with HealthKit-connected apps. Similarly, weight data and exercise entries can be synced between HealthKit and MyFitnessPal. Bug fixes regarding login issues have been resolved in the latest update. Free to download, MyFitnessPal requires iOS 6.0 or later to run.

STM cases for iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus now available

STM has announced the release of the Harbour series of cases - in addition to others - for the newly released iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Featuring a soft, rubberised lining and hardshell frame, the Harbour has a hinged base that can act as a stand when desired, as well as providing port access for docking. The Harbour case is available in four colors and is priced at $25. Also currently available is the Armband case, which consists of a brightly colored band made of Lycra with a clear touchscreen window for accessing the phone. Coming soon are the Dux rugged case, and the Flip wallet case.

The MyFitnessPal update would be great if it actually worked. Logging a meal causes an immediate update to be sent to HealthKit tagged with the date and time of the update. There is also a periodic update which seems to have the correct date but a time of midnight. As a consequence the days meals appear to be logged twice into HealthKit, once at the correct time and once at midnight.

Does anyone else see this?
