That was a plain evil webpage! Dammit!!

She shouldn't have survived with 60% damage, it should have killed her.

Oh: Don't drink ethanol and drive. Heck, don't use any intoxicating substances and use a vehicle.
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

Thats Totally Tragic!

I saw a car the other day with a sticker that said:

IF YOU DRINK AND DRIVE YOUR AN IDIOT
IF YOU MAKE IT HOME YOUR'E A LEGEND.

who even makes these stickers, Show them what has happened to Jacqueline and what she has to live with it , it's not a Joke in any context!

Is there anyone here (of legal drinking age) that has never driven their car after a few drinks?

I normally don't drink when I have to get behind the wheel but I have to admit that it does happen on occasions.

No. Nor will I ever, under any circumstances. Nor will I let any friend of mine. If it was only themselves that they could hurt, I might let them - after quite an argument. Because they can hurt others, they'll have to go through me to get to their car if they want to drive while trashed.

After a beer or two is okay, though. It depends on how bad they are.

I just won't though.

That's beyond horrible, the girl. Just awful.

I completly agree. If it's has been only a couple of beers it's fine to drive, otherways ditto what you said.

Very sad page, but a good thing to show to drivers, especially teenagers, many of whom think they are invincible behind the wheel.

Okay...here comes me the cynical bastard...

Anyone notice that party picture? I wonder how many of her friends (and her?) drove home that night under the influence?

And something about the sincerity of that page comes into question when you work your way down the site's directory. This page is hosted on site that contains Nazi cartoons, rape/murder photos, porn....good god...and some of the nastiest, f*cked up cartoons (Hentai) that I've seen.

I don't know...man...if this family has anything to do with this site...karma man...karma...

She seemed happy on the other pictures. I feel sorry for her.

But also makes me consious about the risks in everyday life. Being 27 now, I slipped thru the hole of the needle lots of times. Pretty amazing I still have all my teeth, fingers and toes. I used to be one of those ADHD kids, before they gave the 'defect (?) a name and fed them Ritalin.

Sick, but Drunk driving will never be stopped, nor will there be much more of an attempt (legally) then we see today.

Drunk driving accidents are a major source of donor organs these days... Think about it.

Nobody wants the organs of a cancer patient, AIDS patient, hepatitis patient etc. Even an old person.

So how else does someone between the ages of 18 and 30 (when they are ripe) just die?

And cars are designed great for this as well. The airbag is designed with the propper force to protect the chest cavity. Most deaths are from blunt force trama to the head. Even if no seatbelt is worn.... Just to keep the goods in proper shape.

50% of automobile accidents that result in deaths involve alcohol

3 in 5 Americans will be involved in an accident involving alcohol.

I think we should be allowed to drink at 16 and drive at 21. People should get accustomed to alcohol before being allowed to get behind the wheel. I drink much differently at 25 then I did at 16. People are going to drink, let them get used to it before allowing them to hop behind the wheel.

And if you get busted they should nail you to the wall. Lose your license for years, picture on TV, ect.. My friend got a DUI and was driving 2 months later. Bullshit.

Darwinism and natural selection don't work when the subject in question kills others. We're not increasing the average intelligence of the gene pool here, because stupid people arne't dying - they're killing others.

This kind of stupidity isn't genetic, of course, but you do get the point I'm making.

That would have made the last 5 years of my education impossible. I disagree. The driving age is fine, the drinking age is the problem. In France kids are given wine at the table at a young age. They aren't all peepants about alcohol over there like we are in the states. They accept it and celebrate it as a part of culture. In the US its a taboo, so tons of kids like to go out and get totally wasted. They are getting away with something.

I agree. I just wish kids could become more comfortable with the bottle before they got behind the wheel. I know lots of kids that had been driving for years but had only drank a few times. They felt so comfortable behind the wheel that affects of alcohol seemed more minor then they actually were. I'm good at this I can do it after a few drinks. If teens could become comfortable with the limits alcohol places upon them I think teens would make better choices about when the limit has been reached.

Better public transportation would be nice too.

I lived in a small town with a central party zone so we could bike everywhere. It would be nice if the kids could catch the bus home at three am instead of driving. [18 - 21 year olds included.]

edit: in my last post i picked the numbers for convienence. I don't agree with them.

Well. She survived.

My 16 year old nephew was killed by a drunk driver when he was walking home from work. She (with her 4 year old daughter with her) drove off the road, the shoulder and struck him...100 feet...killed him instantly.

For the jerk offs here who think any of this is a joke doesn't know what the effects are in a family.

Don't drink and drive. That simple.

Not meaning to sound high-and-mighty, but nah I never drink anything before driving, ever. I don't trust my reflexes after alcohol, and boy would I regret it if i did kill someone. (understatement)

Ouch. Nasty photos. I don't have a problem with one or two beers and then drive, I just drive slower and be more careful. Sometimes I just walk. It's warm enough.

Perhaps one of our Swedish members could confirm this, but my understanding is that driving after drinking ANY alcohol in Sweden is not only illegal, but that it carries a mandatory 1 year jail sentence. The beauty of mandatory jail vs fines is that it affects the rich and poor equally.

One of the problems with drinking and driving is that few people understand exactly how much alcohol it takes to put them over the legal limit. The body can process approximately 1 oz. of alcohol/hour. 1 beer=one 5 oz glass of wine=1 mixed drink. Two beers in one hour can put you over the legal limit and if you kill someone, that's considered in many locales vehicular homicide or manslaughter. Also, the average cost of a DUI is about $15,000 when you factor in insurance rates, fines etc. Even many alcoholics know better than to drink and drive. Bottom line is that no rational person would ever drink and drive. The problem is that after a couple of drinks, who's rational?

After a few drinks you are still rational, but you have an easier time not to act rational.

Wow. That wasn't even rational

You think USA punishes DUI offenders badly...

The following is an abbreviation of a compiling done by Minnesota Licensed Beverage Association of the methods that other countries use to discourage driving under the influence.

AUSTRALIA --
Names of the convicted drunk drivers are published in the local newspaper under the heading Drunk and in Jail.

TURKEY--
Police take drunk drivers 20 miles out of town and force them to walk back under an escort.

FINLAND AND SWEDEN--
Automatic jail sentence for one year at hard labor.

SOUTH AFRICA--
Drunken drivers are given 10 year prison terms, a fine of $10,000 or both.

NORWAY--
Three weeks in jail at hard labor and the driver loses license for one year. A second offense within 5 years and the driving license is permanently revoked.

RUSSIA--
Driver's license is revoked for life.

BULGARIA--
A second offense of drunken driving is the last. The punishment is execution.

EL SALVADOR--
Drunken drivers are executed by a firing squad.

That sounds like bullshit. For Europe, even Russia cancelled the death penalty generally. Regarding Turkey, they can buy themselves outta the army, so...
