Since upgrading to Panther 10.3.1 I have been having increasingly serious Mail problems. First, the Junk filter didn't seem to be working as effectively. Now, I cannot move or mark any email to Junk without the app crashing completely.

I've repaired permissions, trashed the mail preferences file. I've installed no new software or third party stuff, just the usual Apple software updates.

I haven't seen this particular problem reported or discussed, so it must not be widespread (the MacNN search feature is not working this morning, so I apologize if I've missed an earlier post.)

I am running a G4 Quicksilver. Any suggestions? P.S. Mail seems to work on my iBook. Weird.

Reset the Junk mail filter in the preferences. That may do the trick.

You're right, it does work! I never even noticed the reset button on the Junk mail prefs. Thanks so much for your quick and effective solution.

It seems that somehow the junk mail rules get messed up as to where the junk mailbox is. If it doesn't exist, mail.app just quits. wham, bam, no thanks mam.
