Hello,

my mum considers upgrading to 10.7. She uses 10.5 and has lots of Mails, obviously. She's wondering what happens with the emails when upgrading to 10.7 - are there any issues? Is there a manual (or similar) on how to backup the mails properly? (I wanted to backup her data, erase the HD, start from scratch)

No there shouldn't be any issues, especially if she has a Time Machine backup. She does have a TM backup, right?

If her mail is IMAP (which it should be), then her mail is essentially stored in the "cloud", so she won't lose it. If her email is POP, well, you should move her to IMAP. But if it is POP, a TM backup should be good insurance against loss.
