Who Watched The New NBC Show, Raines?

I gave it 10 seconds and was ready to switch it off. Then 20 seconds. Then a minute. Then 5 minutes. Then 10.

But by then I was won over.

Smart. Serious with a touch of fun but not cutesy like Monk can sometimes be. It kept me guessing. Better than average dialog. Sometimes bordering greatness. Appealing main, secondary and transitory characters and casting. Great concept.

There was a point near the resolution of the crime when I began to think the writer had lost his way and it was falling short, but a few moments later I saw that that was just a plot device.

Really good show. GREAT ending.

If the next few episodes are 3/4 as good as this premiere, then I'm hooked.

Watch the entire "Raines" pilot! When a college student is murdered, Raines enters a tawdry world to discover the shocking truth. The pilot is presented in four parts. Click on each successive image to view the next segment.

What do you think of it?

Can you watch it for 60 seconds and not want to see more?

It won't fill my want for Studio 60, but Raines was good and I will be giving it a fair shot…

I enjoyed it too, always have like Goldblum.

I like Goldblum a lot. But it looks like he's getting very old... I'll give it a shot. I missed it after The Office hour and that horrible Andy Richter show.

I liked it too. Definitely some room for improvement (didn't care for the dead person-actor) but really quite nice. I like that style of mystery/police detective show and monk is in a bad time slot and is often too silly.
