First one was a "hardware failure", returned to Apple, without a computer for 4 days.

This time it was an incessant ticking that started after about 3 weeks of use. The technican didn't even squable. First words were "were are going to replace your computer" After telling her I was not happy that I would have to back up, and reload the 50 CD's and other things loaded, she offered me an iPod Nano. After thinking for a second, I said I was more concerend about haveing a good computer and asked for the 500 gb hard drive upgrade.

They agreed to do that, so I guess it will work out, but again I will be out a computer while the new one and the old one pass each other on Fed Ex Planes.

Here's hoping to "third times the charm" not "3 strikes your out"

You got infinitely better customer service than I did when I tried to deal with Apple.

The day after delivery of my 17 inch Core Duo iMac the Core 2 Duo's were announced. I telephoned Apple immediately to see if I could arrange an exchange. I spoke to several CSRs to be told that I could NOT exchange, but I would have to return the Core Duo at my expense AND Apple would charge me a "restocking fee" and I would be refunded the remainder and then I would have to order a Core 2 Duo.

I did not return the Core Duo as I did not want to lose $$$ on the "restocking fee". I placed my order for the iMac 8 days before the Core 2 Duo models were announced, so I am still feeling a bit annoyed. It would have been different if I had my iMac say, a month before the Core 2 Duos.

I was asked several times by a couple of the CSRs I spoke to, "You're in Canada, right?"
WTF...as if THAT was relevant?!?

End of rant.

Maybe because there is a definite lack of Apple Stores/Resellers and repair shops in this country.

That might be a possibility.

I've put off getting Apple Care for my iMac. The last thing I want to hear after shelling out extra dollars for extended coverage is "You're in Canada, right?" and getting nowhere.

I love my Mac, but I don't have to like Apple's questionable customer service.

They now took back their offer. They can only ship out the same exact CTO systme they got back. Nice to have been told that instead of lied to. It is really not the loss of the 500 gb upgrade, but the process of telling me they would appease me with a Nano, then a hard drive, now nothing.

Mostly wish I had never seen an iMac right now. Lesson learned. Get anything Applecare tells you in writing. Their word is poor.
