Right, so I'm on nightshift here for the next 4 nights, from 20:30 until 07:30 in the morning... Not really my idea of fun!
So, how do I stay awake? I mean, I've got my laptop, 4 DVD's, fags and a book. But I'm thinking this might not be enough?
So what did you gys do when you were doing nightshift?

Get an interesting game for your laptop.
Or a couple of midgets.

0.7Liter (24oz) of pure energy.
At my last job a friend gave me a can which I drank. I have never been so hyper in all my life. My wife hung out with me for lunch and she said I was sitting there twitching and constantly fidgeting. I was bouncing off the walls.
The only problem is that it makes you need to pee constantly; which might not be a bad thing since you'll be awake walking to and from the bathroom.

I'm working as an customer service co-ordinator.
Taking calls from customers and dispatching the correct engineers.
(yeah, I know, utterly boring)

Keep a few oranges around too, nothing like a natural pick me up.
On top of the coffee and meth, of course.

Hmmm... I should have gone by the local dealer then.
But in lack of meth, I'll just have to eat some caffeeine tablets then?

I work nights twice a week, apart from doing some financial stuff, I'm currently working my way through classic sci-fi series. But watching series doesn't keep me awake. I usually get tired around 5:30, drinking coffee isn't such a good idea because that disrupts my sleeping pattern(which is f'ed anyway). Well, for my work I can walk around with a mobile phone, taking a stroll through the building revs up my heart a bit, that's enough to keep my eyes open till seven. I guess this isn't useful advice. As for caffeine, I try to drink only one caffeinated drink per day, max.

I think if you put the meth up your butt, it would get into your bloodstream faster.

nooo, no caffeine type stimulants. One) you'll get addicted easily. Two) once it wears out, you'll get dead tired Three) if you wanna have a good pick me up, oranges and bananas will do the trick, and so will watching midget pron. Always a wake me up, even more so when the women "spin"!

Just so long as you don't try that with a hot cup of coffee, you should be ok.

yes this. 3am was the worst. I read many good books... bad magazines... mending... writing letters... I also cleaned just for something to do. Shiniest keyboards EVER! It was before the internet so there wasn't much else to do. There were no midgets involved.

Ok, I managed to find some nice tea on my co-workers desk, good Indian spiced tea. Has a nice flavour, a bit like ginger ale.
And The League of Gentlemen's Apocalypse is in the DVD

He's in Scotland-which kind of tea do you think he's drinking?
And it's "steal" rather than "steel." I'd love for my boss to know I was MADE OF STEEL.

Hot tea, and it wasn't stealing, just unauthorised borrowing
You're tired? I'm now sitting at home, I did manage to survive the first nightshift, but god I'm feeling like a zombie - only 6 hours of ...
And tonight I'm back at work again...

6 hours of sleep makes feel like a zombie? Damn. 6 hours of sleep is usually what I get weeknights. 4, now that makes me groggy.

Well, normally I go to bed at 21:00 latest, and then get up at 05:00 in the morning (4 cats needs feeding attention).
So 6 hours are not really enough for me... But I guess people are different when it comes to their sleeping needs?

No, I need my sleep. My body prefers 9. I just abuse it, and am still 80-90% functional at 6.
Anyway, I'd never be able to get up at 5 am for any reason, so you win there.
Well, not really, but you know what I mean.

You don't need to stay awake, you said you was a co-ordinator. Co-ordinator someone else to do the work and sleep

I'm right there with you. Given all the time in the world to sleep I'll get about 9. Usually I'm in bed at 1 * and up at 7:20.
*And home by 4!

A safe and powerful method for staying awake is to use Modafini. Modafini was originally developed for the treatment of narcolepsy. It is also a memory-improving and mood-brightening psycho-stimulant. It's a second generation amphetamine which means, basically, it has all the benefits of amphetamines with little or none of their traditional side effects such as jitteriness or anxiety. This is powerful prescription medication, but it works, and helping to keep oneself awake at the wheel would be an appropriate use of this valuable medication. I've written a longer article about my own experiences with this drug that contains some useful information -- it's one place you can start if you're interested in investigating further: helium.com/tm/315050/great-question-essential-skill.

Usually I work 3 pm - 11:30, but occasionally I get suckered into working 3:00 pm - 2:00 or 3:00 am. For me, I start to get pretty tired around 11:00 - 11:30, when its going home time, but I get my second wind pretty quickly, and that usually lasts me until 2:30-ish. Granted, I get to go home by 3, but I've also been working for 12 hours.
I'm not able to watch DVDs at work, but I find that a good book makes the time go by quickly. I also like talking to people, especially the crazy but harmless ones, so when such people wander by, I usually engage them in conversation.
Also, Google "midget fighting" and "albinos". Looking at pictures of the very small and the very white are always entertaining.

It only takes me 30 minutes to get ready and 30 to get to work, so i'm loving the sleeping
