For the last six weeks my computer is crashing, either with a KP, more often just freezing so that the cursor moves, but cannot do anything. This has happened in Safari, SuperDuper, Carbon CopyCloner, AudioHijack, MacTheRipper, Word, amongst others. Now every night, when SD is backing up, I awake to the fans on high and have do a hard restart. This started out being an occasional occurrence. I have a DP G5 1.8, 4 gigs of RAM, 2 internal drives. BTW it is not a drive problem, this happens with both internal and one external drives. Here are the last lines of the last SD crash log:

Thank you Tooki,

Initially, the problem was that the start up disks could not boot. So I fsckd, Diskwarriored, TTP'd and Drive Geniused them (again, this has happened booted while in all 3 drives), and got the 'file overlap' message, which was hard to fix, but I now seem to have 3 functional drives. BUT the crashes increase...

I ran TTP all tests on hardware, nothing. Why would, e.g., SuperDuper and AudioHijack and a 'copy' to, Word of a Safari page, crash the OS? Oh, I also restarted in Safe mode, with a following normal restart, a few times. Same problem.

How about a clean install of the OS, with or without archive & install?

Remove RAM in different combinations and see if the crashing stops.

If RAM is defective, ANYTHING you've copied, or installed since the defect appeared can and WILL be corrupted.

Thank you Spheric Harlot, it was the RAM. Friday 2nd I installed brand new RAM, ran some intensive tasks for 7 hours, everything A-OK!
