I've just heard about this place, and wonder if anyone has any good stories.

For those not familiar, Action Park was an amusement park.

The park had six deaths during its 20 year run.
There were so many accidents, the park owners bought the town extra ambulances to help with the load.
The pond with the bumperboats was infested with snakes.
Most personnel were teenagers.... and drunk... and high.
Said teenagers could jam the governors on the go-carts so they'd reach 50 mph.
One ride had you slide down rollers like in a warehouse, and skip across a three inch deep puddle like a stone, or didn't, and required the EMT's to "pat your scalp back down".
One water slide did a 360° vertical loop, like a roller coaster.

My mind is pretty much full of **** on this one.

Nicknames the locals had for Action Park include Traction Park and Class-Action Park.

I never visited Action Park, but wanted to as a kid - don't know why I never made it there.

But I remember the commercials:

Action Park 80's Live Action and Cannonball loop - YouTube
"Faster, faster! 'Till the thrill of speed overcomes the fear of death." - HST

I was describing this place, and led with there being six deaths. He was like, "holy crap".

By the end he was, "wait... only six people died?"

Just another example of freedoms having a price surely?
I have plenty of more important things to do, if only I could bring myself to do them....

Why would you want to forego the discussion we're already having to take a cheap political shot at me in the non-political lounge?
