Stupid is as stupid does ....

A wild viral video shows a woman taunting a lion inside an enclosure at the Bronx Zoo in New York. The woman was not injured and has not been identified. Witnesses said she was dancing and talking to the lion before it appeared to get angry at her and she left before anything more serious occurred.

The video was posted on Instagram on Sunday, September 29, by @realsobrino. He was at the zoo with his family and had been taking photos and videos of the animals when the scene unfolded in front of him.

A police investigation is underway. The video shows the woman just feet away from a male lion.

Bronx Zoo officials said the woman illegally entered the African lion enclosure on Saturday, September 28, and put her life in danger, while also endangering the lion.

The zoo released a statement saying, “This action was a serious violation and unlawful trespass that could have resulted in serious injury or death. Barriers and rules are in place to keep both visitors, staff and animals safe. We have a zero tolerance policy on trespass and violation of barriers.”

The woman climbed over a barrier to get into the enclosure. There was a moat-like area in between her and the lion, but it is not clear if that prevented the lion from coming closer to the woman.

In 2016, a video of a boy falling into an enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo and being grabbed by Harambe the gorilla went viral because zoo officials shot and killed Harambe, saying they were forced to do so to save the animal’s life. The video sparked outrage as many blamed the boy’s mother for allowing him to fall into the enclosure. The Bronx Zoo video has led to similar anger, with many people on social media saying the woman could have caused the lion to be killed.

The NYPD is investigating after a criminal complaint was filed against the woman in the video by the Bronx Zoo, but she has not been identified so far.

If she is caught, police could charge her with criminal trespass. Nobody called 911 or reported the incident to police on the day of the incident, the NYPD said. But the complaint was filed by the zoo on Tuesday, according to the NYPD.

Hernan Reynoso, who posted the video on Instagram, told NBC New York he thought the woman was part of the exhibit at first, and then realized she didn’t belong.

“But when I see … she just was there, dancing, saying, ‘Hi,’ to the lion and everything and that was crazy,” Reynoso told the news station. He said at one point the lion began to get agitated and roared at the woman. Reynoso took his family and left when that occurred, he said.

I can't speak for honor among thieves, but honor among police needs some work.
Three Spanish police officers who were thrown into the sea when their boat crashed early during a high-speed chase were pulled to safety by the drug-smugglers they were chasing, police said.
...
“They were arrested for drug trafficking,” a police statement said, indicating that more than 80 bundles of hash had been recovered from the sea.
Getting that arrest will likely cost human lives in the future. Next time, the smugglers won't stop to help. Cops in the water will get to drown, or try their luck with the sharks.

Do you live in Russia, and need some extra cash? Well, you could get a job set up a fake border checkpoint to Finland. Charge desperate migrants a few thousand each to smuggle them past your fake border.
Russian authorities have detained a man who built a fake frontier post in the woods near the country’s border with Finland and promised migrant workers he could smuggle them into the European Union.

The man erected mock border posts and charged four men from south Asia more than $10,000 to take them to EU member Finland, the Russian border guard service said on Wednesday.
For their money, he led them around in the Russian woods until everyone got arrested. I suppose if he wired the money out of the country fast enough, he might even be able to keep it. Assuming it cleared during the hours they were tramping through the woods. Somehow I doubt it though. This seems like a cash enterprise.

The PIG story was found to be misleading, as they found the cop had placed the order online and used that name for himself, as an in joke. inhouse staff can't change names entered in online orders.

also boo to usa today, which popped up 3 other articled when I clicked your link.

I had heard the “cafe” on the label means it was ordered there. It would say “mobile” if it was ordered online.

I had a drunk woman in front of me at a Taco Bell drive-thru...

1) Fall asleep
2) Ask me for her tacos when I went to her window to wake her up
3) Start to get out of her car while it was still in drive

Thankfully, after that she got back in, pulled over, and walked inside.

It was the original owner of the car who left it running outside a grocery store. The thief with fake plate was arrested, and the car recovered.

Bank guy *did* buy a Mercedes-Benz, then got arrested months later. The $1 million is a maximum fine, possibly the $250K also. At the moment, he's only charged, with those fines pending conviction.

What do you do if your mom is being hit by a boyfriend? And if you call the cops, he'll be gone when they arrive? If you're seriously smart, you call 911 ... and order a pizza. Lets you give your address. She got a very alert dispatcher, who caught on.

The best line from the Pop Tart story is this quote from the arresting officer:

“I also observed the broken pop-tart on the floor of the residence.”

Might there be a young supervillain behind this story?

Favorite quote:
"Anyone who observes these men consuming large quantities of baby formula and Red Bull should contact the police," police said.

I suppose he didn't like all the traffic. So he drove around to spread nails. A true believer would have spread nails from a bike, or while on foot.

Very few nails would land point-up. He must not know about caltrops.

A thief in Los Angeles steals a dead body. He/she/they actually stole the hearse it was in, but that still means they took a ride with the dead.
It has all the hallmarks of an only-in-Los Angeles crime: a thief stole a hearse – with a body inside - that went on a wild ride, ending with a chase and a crash on a busy freeway.

Authorities say they found the body undisturbed inside a casket Thursday morning and took someone into custody after the crash, which closed the 110 Freeway during the morning commute.
Mortuaries might prevent this with an audio loop through the car's sound system. Creepy voices giving driving- and life-advice.
