I just had to let everyone know that the least Macintosh configuration supported by Panther has done absolute wonders for an original, Bondi Blue iMac with 160 MB of RAM. 10.0-10.2 were basically unusable on this machine, but 10.3 is very, very usable. Of course, things like Expos and the Fast User Switching animation are a little slow but you can certainly still use them.
It truly is a whole new Mac.
Now I just have to see how it'll work on my 1 GHz TiBook....muhuhahahaha!
Cheers!

Great news! i was about to buy one for the living room and was wondering how it was with 10.3.
the difference is also great on my dual 450. it is much much more responsive than 10.2 ever was. it's not like having a new mac but it sure will make my mac more usable for a longer period of time i guess
Best. OS. Ever.
thanks apple!

Good to hear! My machine's a little long in the tooth, and I usually have loads of apps running. Hopefully it will be a worthwhile upgrade.

I just retired a Rev B of mine with 160 RAM, installed Panther 7B53 on it and it was fast. However, I felt like learning linux, and installed yellow dog on it. Runs fast and smooth. Now it's in my closet...

What fast user swiching animation. There is no animation on machines that do not support Q.E. The desktop just switches over. And yes it is faster but that is a machine that should stay with OS 9. 10.2 was also usable on an iMac 233 with 288 MB ram.

Yes, I know I could buy a PC, but why?

You're right about the Fast User thing...my mistake.
Well, 10.3 seems to work better on this Bondi Blue iMac than 9.2.2 worked just minutes before...
